What is the School Games ?

The Norfolk School Games is part of a national government initiative designed to inspire children and young people to enjoy being physically active for life.

Through positive experiences of inclusive daily activity and competition, students from Years 3 to 13 are supported to improve their physical, social and emotional wellbeing. The Norfolk school games is available to all education settings and continually evolving to reflect local needs.

Active Norfolk work in partnership with an experienced network of School Games Organisers and are guided by the Youth Sport Trust, to offer young people empowering opportunities that are centred on the competence and confidence of those children taking part. The School Games is funded by Sport England and is FREE for all schools to get involved in.

In collaboration with Norfolk schools, parents and community organisations we aim to motivate young people to develop their physical literacy, through engaging events, competitions and leadership pathways that are meaningful to the personal development of children who will most benefit from participation.

We will always endeavour to nurture the voice and choice of young people within Norfolk to co-create equal activity opportunities both locally and countywide.

How can my school get involved?

If your school would like to participate in the Norfolk School Games, please contact your local School Games Organiser.

Norfolk has a team of dedicated School Games Organisers (SGO’s) within 8 School Sport Partnerships (SSP’s), who are here to support Primary, Secondary and SEND schools to develop their physical activity programmes and sporting opportunities.

The events offered within each school area are targeted and themed to address local needs and support schools to select which pupils will benefit most from attending.

Recent opportunities have included Sports Leaders Training, Girls Football Festivals, Panathlon competitions, Transition Team Building events and many more. Your Schools Games Organiser will work with you and your team to ensure students are able to access the physical activities appropriate to their needs.

In addition to all the events and activities hosted locally by your School Sport Partnership, there will be a series of enriching County School Games events launching each new academic year.
