As part of the final day of 2017 Norfolk School Games Winter Finals action the Sportshall Athletics County Level 3 competition took place at the Sportspark. This saw nearly 200 young athletes from Years 4 to 6 taking part in a wide range of Athletics events & scoring as many points as possible for their Partnership teams.
Each of the Teams had qualified to represent their local School Sports Partnership (SSP) by taking part in a prior qualifying competition. Each SSP team included competitors in both the Big Schools and the Small Schools events
Sportshall Athletics is an indoor form of track and field for children between the ages of 4 and 16. It was created to provide a safe and warm environment for young athletes to train during the cold and dark winter months and quickly developed into a new form of team competition. The program focusses on fitness and multi-skill development providing grounding for all sports. It is totally inclusive, encourages children to get fit and promotes friendship whilst having lots of fun.
With a packed program of track & field events it didn’t take long for the action to get underway and the atmosphere to reach fever pitch inside the Main Hall of the Sportspark. There were some fantastic performances throughout the day, with all the children showing great levels of enthusiasm, teamwork & sportsmanship throughout both the Big & Small School competitions.

We would like to take this chance to say a huge thank you to Adam from Sportshall UK who compered, organised and ran the day in a brilliant manner that had everyone engaged, enthused & unable to stop smiling! The event was also supported by Sports Leaders from Easton College, who acted as officials for the Track events and ran the Field events so we would like to extend a big thank you to them as well.
The 2017 Norfolk School Games Finals take a short break now, coming back with the Year 3-4 Girls Football Competition on April 25th at Goals Soccer Centre in Norwich.
