Secondary Panathlon Challenge 2020

Another fantastic day was had by all at the UEA, Sportspark. The Secondary Panathlon was taking place alongside Secondary Alternative Day. The Secondary Panathlon event was run by The Panathlon Challenge, a national charity which delivers sporting opportunities for children with a special education need or disability (SEND). Children from mainstream secondary schools were invited to represent their school sports partnership (SSP) at the event and it was great to see happy faces throughout the event enjoying sport.

This year, we had 20 children from 3 different schools taking part. The event ran as a carousel of activities which the teams rotated around and collected points for their team. Teams were split into 6 teams. Some of the rotating activities included curling, ten pin skittles, basketball, boccia, tri golf target and a bean bag target throw.

The teams were supported by 21 leaders from DIss High School all of whom were brilliant. A huge thank you to them for helping the event today.

It was a very close finish at this amazing event but after all points were collected and counted, the results were as follows:

1st– Aylsham – 24 points

2nd– Iceni – 23 points

3rd– Hethersett – 15 points

A Huge well done to all the teams who took part today. There was so much encouragement from all the children not only for their individual team but for others as well which is great to see and a big part of the School Games Values. We’d like to thank the deliverers from The Panathlon Challenge who ran the event today and ensured all competitors had great fun having the opportunity of being involved in sport.
