Norfolk School Games Virtual Cross Country

Another popular event in our school games calendar is the cross country which normally takes place in the beautiful setting of Holkham Hall in North Norfolk.

Last term’s cross country virtual challenge was open to both primary and secondary schools and it was fantastic to see so many schools enter this one. The challenge was set with varying distances for pupils to run depending on which year group they were in in their school setting. Years 1/2 1000 metres, Years 3/4 1200m, Years 5/6 1400m and Years 7/8 1600m.

Pupils were encouraged to run at a speed that they could continue for the full distance. Times were given to each pupil once they had completed the course and converted into seconds. Again, classes calculated their total score which was then averaged to allocate final points.

A huge 94 primary schools and 8 secondary schools took part in this challenge. Huge well done to everyone who took part and in particular to the following schools who had the most pupils participate: Hillside Avenue, Drayton Junior, North Wooton Academy, Hethersett VC Primary, Heacham Junior, Mulbarton Primary, Terrington St Clements and Alderman Peel High.

Our next article will be all about the dance challenge.
