School Games Cricketers Find the ‘Root’ to Success!

As part of ta very busy third day of the 2019 Summer Norfolk School Games the Mixed Kwik Cricket Finals were held at Manor Park – the home of Horsford Cricket Club.

16 teams from across the 8 School Sports Partnerships in Norfolk took part meaning there were over 150 girls and boys from Years 5/6 enjoying the Cricketing fun in conditions that were more like winter than the Summer sun Cricket deserves!.

The 16 teams taking part were split into 4 groups, playing matches against the other teams in a round-robin format. Once these were all finished, the Winners & Runners-Up from each group went forward into the Cup competition, whilst the 3rd and 4th placed teams entered the Plate competition.

After a day jam-packed with boundaries, wickets & spectacular catches the final standings were…

1st – Dussindale (Norwich East) for the first time in the Competition’s history!

2nd – Hillside (East Norfolk)

3rd – St. Williams (Norwich East)

Plate Winners – Barnham Broom (South Norfolk)… 9th overall

We would like to extend yet a huge set of thanks to Kieron Tuck from the Norfolk Cricket Board for his continual help & support in making this event run so smoothly and also for providing the fantastic Cricket Board staff who did a sterling job of umpiring all the games. We were also immensely grateful for the ten fantastic Leaders from Thettord Academy who did a grand job of supporting the Umpires with scoring duties.
