2019 Winter School Games Finals kicks off in style!

Today the 2019 Norfolk School Games Winter Finals kicked of in style at the Sportspark in Norwich. The winter finals will run over the next week and will see around 2200 competitors representing their school and local School Sport Partnership in 12 different competitions and events.

The first event of the Finals was an exciting Alternative Sports Festival for pupils in Years 7-9. The festival aimed to encourage a wider range of students to represent their school in school sport and enjoy all of the associated benefits.

Students had the chance to take part in a range of alternative sports, including:

  • Ninja Assault Course
  • Fencing
  • Box Fit
  • Climbing/Myride Indoor Cycling

All activities were provided by experienced coaches/instructors from local community sports clubs.

School Games Organiser Jon Osborne commented:

“It was great to see lots of new faces at the festival today who possibly had never taken part in the Games before. We hoped that by offering students the chance to take part in a range of alternative sports that we would engage students who wouldn’t normally chose to represent their school in school sport”.

The Games will continue on Monday 11th February with the Yr 7-8 Boys and Girls Handball Finals at the Sportspark.
