Pupils ready to ‘tan-go’ at the Dance Competition!

Thursday 20th June also saw a brand-new competition- Year 7-9 Dance. This was a first for The Norfolk School Games and we were looking forward to seeing what creativity and choreography the young pupils had to offer.

8 secondary schools, each representing the 8 partnerships began descended upon Sportspark to compete. The day began with a warm up and workshop from Victoria Taylor, a dance tutor at The Garage in Norwich.

Each school performed for 3 judges, all from The Garage. It was fantastic to see such unique performances, each one had clearly thought about the choreography and costumes to reflect the music chosen.

Whilst the judges totted up their scores, the competitors were treated to a performance from Level 2 dance pupils from City College which provided great inspiration for all. Each group was scored across 6 different categories: music, choreography, floor, impact, concept and overall performance and the final results were as follows:

1st– Norwich- Hethersett Academy

2nd– Breckland- Thetford Academy

3rd– North Norfolk- Alderman Peel

We would like to say a huge thank you to all who were involved and helped with this competition; The Garage, City College and Lisa McGreevy. We look forward to growing the competition and seeing more exciting performances from schools next year.
