School Games Day 3- High Scores in The Panathlon Challenge!

What another fantastic day we had today at Sportspark. The Primary Panathlon was one of three competitions taking place and was run by The Panathlon Challenge, a national charity which delivers sporting opportunities for children with a special education need or disability (SEND). Children from mainstream primary schools were invited to represent their school sports partnership at the event and it was great to see so many smiling faces throughout the event.

This year, we had a total of 60 children split into 7 teams taking part. The event ran as a carousel of activities which the teams rotated around and collected points for their team. Some of the activities included basketball, precision bean bag and skittles.

The teams were supported by leaders from City College all of whom were brilliant. A huge thank you to them for helping the event today.

It was a very close finish but after all points were collected and counted, the results were as follows:

1st– Diamond Academy 33 points (2 wins overall)

2nd– Bluebell Primary 33 points (1 win overall)

3rd– St Augstine’s 31 points

4th– Norwich Primary Academy 29 points (1 win)

5th – North Denes 29 points

6th– Harleston, Spooner Row and Banham 21 points

7th- Sprowston Junior 20 points

A big well done to all teams who took part today. There was so much encouragement from all the children not only for their individual team but for others as well. We’d like to thank the deliverers from The Panathlon Challenge who ran the event today and ensured all competitors had great fun. Photos from this event can be found here. The Winter School Games will continue Thursday with more young children competing in the Girls Football at Goals and the Special Schools Festival at Sportspark.
