Today saw hundreds of young female footballers take part in the 2020 Norfolk School Games Girls Football Finals. The Finals was held at Goals Norwich and included separate events for pupils in Years 3-4 & 5-6.
Organisers had their fingers crossed that the weather would be kind and wouldn’t interrupt the days play.
During the morning 16 teams of Year 3-4 pupils, who had qualified to represent their School Sport Partnership (SSP), battled it out to be crowned 2020 champions.
Teams were split in to four equal groups of four teams who played against each other in a round robin format. Once the group matches were completed, the top two teams in each group went forward into the Cup competition and the teams that finished third and fourth went into the Plate competition. Teams in each of the Cup and Plate competitions were split into two groups with teams playing against each other. When all of the matches were completed and the results calculated teams went forward into the Playoffs to decide overall positions.
All matches were refereed by students from the NCFC Community Sports Foundation Female Football and Education Programme.
