Friday 14th February saw 13 different Secondary Schools descend upon Sportspark, ready to represent their School Sport Partnership and compete at the second-ever Norfolk School Games Dance competition.
After a successful first year at the Summer Games 2019, the Dance competition made a return as part of our Winter Games week but this time with an added age category. This year there were separate competitions for the groups from Years 7&8 and Years 9&10 and we were looking forward to seeing what creativity and choreography the young pupils had to offer.
During the day the dancers were able to take part in two workshops. These were lead by dance tutors from The Garage, in Norwich.
A massive thank you to Katie and Scooby from The Garage and to Katie from Active Norfolk for being our amazing judges for this competition. We also had Victoria from The Garage at the event to give each group some feedback after their performance.
It was fantastic to see such unique performances, each one had clearly thought about the choreography and costumes to reflect the music chosen.
Whilst the judges totted up their scores, the competitors were treated to a performance from Whitney Dunthorne a local contemporary dancer, who started her dance journey through dance opportunities at School.
Each group was scored across 5 different categories: Concept and Soundtrack, Choreography and floor use, Costume Design, Performance Skills, and overall impact.
