Norfolk Summer School Games Finals – Day 5 Report

Today was the fifth and final day of the 2016 Norfolk Summer School Games Finals and was blessed with beautiful weather. The event was delivered in partnership with Norfolk County FA.

Day five of the Games was based at the Football Development Centre (FDC) in Norwich and included the Yr 3-4 Girls Football Finals and the Yr 4-6 Mixed Football Finals.

Yr 3-4 Girls Football Finals

Sixteen teams of girls from across the County came together to take part in the Yr 3-4 Girls Football Finals.

Teams were split into four groups with teams competing in a round robin format. Once all of teh fixtures had been completed the top two teams from each group progressed into the Cup Competition with the bottom two teams in each group going in to the Plate Competition.

The Cup/Plate competitions were both split into two groups with teams again competing against each other in a round robin format.

At the culmination of those groups the teams that finished in the same position in each of the Cup groups played off for overall positions (1st to 8th). The same happened for the teams in the Plate competition who played off for 9th-16th position. The headline results were;

Cup Competition

1st – Costessey Junior School (West Norwich & Dereham SSP)

2nd – Woodlands Primary Academy (East Norfolk SSP)

3rd – Dussindale Primary School (Norwich East SSP)

Plate Competition

1st – Docking Primary School (West Norfolk SSP)

2nd – Scarning Primary School (West Norwich and Dereham SSP)

3rd – Diamond Academy (Breckland SSP)

Yr 4-6 Mixed Football Finals

At the same time as the Yr 3-4 Girls competition was underway, 13 teams from some of the county’s small schools (<125 pupils) were battling it out in their own Football Finals for boys and girls in Yr 4-6.

Teams were initially split into two groups, one of 6 teams and one of 7. They then played against in each with the teams that finished in the same position in each group playing off against each other for overall positions.

1st – Corpusty Primary School (West Norwich and Dereham SSP)

2nd – Banham Primary School (South Norfolk SSP)

3rd – Preston Primary School (South Norfolk SSP)
