Norfolk Winter School Games – Day 2

Day 2 of the Norfolk Winter School Games moved on to Gresham’s School in Holt where over 600 pupils from across the county took part in the county cross country finals.

All of the pupils taking part had qualified to represent their School Sport Partnership (SSP) by finishing in the top ten places within their age group in their local qualifying competition.

The competition challenged the pupils to run around a challenging off road course around the grounds of the school against the other top 80 young runners in each age group.

The following race were held (distance);

  • Year 3 Girls (1000m)
  • Year 3 Boys (1000m)
  • Year 4 Girls (1200m)
  • Year 4 Boys (1200m)
  • Year 5 Girls (1400m)
  • Year 5 Boys (1400m)
  • Year 6 Girls (1600m)
  • Year 6 Boys (1600m)

Jon Osborne, School Games Organisor for the Norwich School Sport Partnership said;

“It was great to see so many talented young athletes at the event. Being able to pace yourself over a long distance is an important lesson for young people to learn. It was clear today that we have some great young talent emerging in the county. ”

Day 3 of the games will see pupils from Primary and Secondary schools taking part in two swimming galas being held at the Sportspark in Norwich.
